MA5X 5% Cleaning Vinegar | Biodegradable Multi-Surface Cleaner
A 5% acetic acid cleaning vinegar for everyday household use. Two ingredients - filtered water and acetic acid - nothing else. No fragrances, no dyes, no additives. Ready to use straight from the bottle. Effective on mineral deposits, calcium scale, soap scum, hard water stains, and general household odors. Biodegradable and food-safe, so you can clean kitchen and food prep surfaces without worrying about chemical residue.
What It Does Well
- Mineral deposits and calcium scale: Dissolves calcium carbonate buildup in kettles, coffee makers, showerheads, faucets, toilet bowls, and dishwashers. Apply, let it sit, rinse. No scrubbing required for lighter deposits.
- Soap scum and water spots: Works on tile, grout, glass shower doors, and bathroom fixtures where alkaline soap residue and hard water minerals build up over time. Rinse thoroughly after treatment.
- Odor neutralization: Acetic acid reacts with ammonia-based household odors - pet urine, musty smells, general kitchen odors and neutralizes them rather than masking them. Apply to the source, allow contact time, and wipe or rinse.
- General surface cleaning: Countertops, tile, appliance exteriors, and general hard surfaces. Dilute 1:1 with water for routine cleaning or use full strength on heavier mineral deposits.
- Food preparation surfaces: Classified as a Food Product/Food Ingredient (SDS Section 7.3). Rinse food-contact surfaces thoroughly with clean water after use before resuming food preparation.
Good to Know Before You Use It
Cleaning vinegar at 5% is effective for descaling, deodorizing, and light cleaning on the right surfaces. It is not a disinfectant or sanitizer, the EPA does not register vinegar as a disinfectant, so it won't replace a proper sanitizing step in food preparation. And it won't cut through heavy grease or baked-on carbon the way an alkaline degreaser will. Use it where mild acid chemistry is the right tool.
Surfaces to Avoid
- Natural stone - marble, limestone, travertine: Acid dissolves calcium-based stone. Do not use on marble, limestone, or travertine countertops or tiles, even diluted.
- Bare or uncoated aluminum: Prolonged contact can cause surface oxidation. If contact occurs, rinse promptly and thoroughly.
- Waxed or polished surfaces: Acetic acid strips wax. On waxed floors or polished wood, follow up with the appropriate wax or finish after cleaning.
- Bleach or alkaline cleaners: Never mix with bleach - combining acid and bleach produces chlorine gas. Never combine in the same container or apply to the same surface at the same time as alkaline degreasers.
- Uncured sealants or fresh grout: Acetic acid interferes with curing. Keep away from recently applied grout, caulk, or adhesives until fully cured.
Safe Use
Signal word: WARNING. This product causes serious eye irritation (H319). If eye contact occurs, flush immediately with large amounts of water for at least 20 minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do. Seek medical advice if irritation persists. Wash hands and skin thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Wear gloves for prolonged or repeated contact. Use in a ventilated area - acetic acid vapor can cause respiratory irritation in enclosed spaces at elevated concentrations. Keep out of reach of children. Prevent large spills from reaching waterways or drains.
