MA5X Heavy-Duty Oven & Grill Degreaser | Industrial Strength pH 13-14
A maximum-strength alkaline degreaser built for commercial cooking equipment - ovens, grills, fryers, griddles, rotisseries, and broilers. pH 13-14 chemistry dissolves baked-on carbon, carbonized grease, and food residue in 2 to 6 minutes without overnight soaking. This product does not require diluting before use, but it does require thorough rinsing after. Read the application instructions fully before using it for the first time.
Available in 1-gallon and 55-gallon drum only. No 32oz size for this product.
What It Does Well
- Eliminates baked-on carbon without overnight soaking: Maximum alkaline chemistry at pH 13-14 penetrates carbonized grease, food residue, and heavy buildup within 2 to 6 minutes of contact - a job that lower-pH commercial degreasers often can't complete without extended soaking cycles.
- Works on all commercial cooking surfaces: Ovens, convection ovens, flat-top griddles, grills, deep fryers, broilers, rotisseries, hood filters, and drip trays - one product covering the full range of commercial kitchen equipment maintenance.
-
No diluting required: Apply directly from the container. No measuring, no mixing.
Application - Read Before Using
Before applying: Equipment must be completely cool and power must be off. Turn on kitchen exhaust ventilation. Put on required PPE (see Safety section below).
Apply directly to interior oven surfaces, grill grates, fryer baskets, or griddle surfaces using an acid-resistant brush, sponge, or spray applicator. Allow 2 to 6 minutes of contact time. Agitate with a non-scratch brush or pad on heavy carbon deposits as needed.
Rinse thoroughly before returning to service - this step is not optional. After cleaning, rinse all treated surfaces completely with clean water. Repeat rinsing until no slippery residue remains and the surface is fully neutral. pH 13-14 residue on cooking surfaces that then contact food or heat is a food safety hazard. If the surface still feels slippery after rinsing, rinse again.
Good For
- Restaurants and commercial kitchens: Daily or weekly deep cleaning of high-use cooking equipment during closing procedures.
- Catering and food truck operations: Periodic heavy-duty cleaning of compact cooking equipment between events or service periods.
- Institutional kitchens: Schools, hospitals, and hotels running high-volume cooking programs on equipment that accumulates heavy carbon buildup between scheduled service cycles.
- BBQ and grill-focused establishments: Grills and smokers that build up carbon-heavy deposits from wood or charcoal cooking.
- Serious home cooks: This product is available to home users but it is not a typical household oven cleaner. It requires full PPE, ventilation, and the same careful rinsing procedure as commercial use. If you're looking for something simpler for home oven maintenance, this is stronger than you need for routine cleaning.
Safety - Signal Word: DANGER
This product carries the GHS DANGER signal word. It is classified as causing serious eye damage (H318), skin irritation (H315), and respiratory irritation from sodium metasilicate (H335). At pH 13-14, eye contact can cause permanent damage.
Required PPE: Chemical-resistant gloves, face shield (not just safety glasses - overhead and interior oven application creates splatter risk), and protective clothing. Kitchen exhaust ventilation must be active during application due to 2-Butoxyethanol content.
Eye contact: Flush immediately with water for at least 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses. Call a poison center or doctor immediately - do not wait for symptoms to develop.
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash affected area thoroughly with water. Seek medical attention if irritation develops.
Do not apply to hot or warm equipment. Applying to warm surfaces causes steaming and splatter, increasing chemical exposure risk. Cool the equipment fully before starting.
Keep out of reach of children. Do not mix with acidic cleaners. Prevent spills from reaching waterways or floor drains.
