MA5X Heavy-Duty Oven & Grill Degreaser 55-Gallon Drum | Commercial Kitchen, pH 13-14
For commercial kitchens, restaurants, catering operations, food trucks, institutional facilities, and BBQ establishments that need maximum-strength carbon and grease removal from commercial cooking equipment. Available in a 55-gallon drum for centralized storage, drum pump dispensing, and pallet delivery.
MA5X Heavy-Duty Oven & Grill Degreaser in the 55-Gallon Drum is a maximum-strength caustic alkaline formula (pH 13-14) engineered to eliminate stubborn carbon buildup, baked-on grease, and carbonized food residue from commercial ovens, grills, fryers, griddles, and rotisseries within 2-6 minutes without overnight soaking. The same chemistry used in professional kitchen service programs, available in bulk drum format for operations that clean high volumes of equipment on daily or weekly maintenance cycles. Always rinse equipment thoroughly with clean water before returning to service.
Key Features & Benefits
- Maximum-strength caustic chemistry - pH 13-14: Sodium hydroxide and sodium metasilicate at maximum alkaline strength penetrate and dissolve baked-on carbon deposits, carbonized grease, and food residue that lower-strength degreasers cannot address, delivering results in 2-6 minutes of contact time.
- No overnight soaking required: Fast-acting alkaline chemistry breaks down carbonized buildup on contact, allowing kitchen staff to clean, rinse, and return equipment to service within a single cleaning shift rather than overnight soak cycles.
- Works on all commercial cooking surfaces: Formulated for ovens, convection ovens, grills, flat-top griddles, deep fryers, broilers, rotisseries, hood filters, and drip trays. One drum product covering the full range of commercial cooking equipment maintenance.
- Direct cost economics from the manufacturer: Bulk drum pricing delivers direct-manufacturer cost per application without distributor markup.
- Built for bulk kitchen operations: Standard 55-gallon drum with 2" and 3/4" bungs integrates with drum pumps, spray bottle refill stations, and pallet storage for centralized chemical management across multiple kitchen stations or facility locations.
Application Instructions
Before applying: Ensure equipment is completely cool and power is disconnected. Activate kitchen exhaust ventilation. Put on required PPE (see Safety section below).
Apply product to interior oven surfaces, grill grates, fryer baskets, or griddle surfaces using an acid-resistant spray applicator or brush. Allow 2-6 minutes of contact time, do not exceed 10 minutes on most surfaces. Agitate with a non-scratch brush or pad on heavy carbon deposits as needed.
Rinse requirement - mandatory before returning to service: After cleaning, rinse all treated surfaces thoroughly and completely with clean water. Repeat rinsing until no residue remains. pH 13-14 chemistry must be fully removed from all cooking surfaces, grates, and food-contact areas before the equipment is returned to service or heat is applied. Inspect surfaces after rinsing, residue or slippery feel indicates further rinsing is needed.
Commercial Kitchen Use Guide
Appropriate equipment and surfaces:
- Commercial ovens - interior walls and racks: Apply to cool interior surfaces. Keep away from door gaskets and electronic components. Rinse racks separately in a sink before replacing in the oven.
- Grills and flat-top griddles: Apply to completely cool cooking surface. Allow dwell time, scrape, and rinse with water. Do not apply to hot griddles as alkaline chemistry can react with residual cooking oils and produce fumes.
- Deep fryer interiors and baskets: Drain oil completely. Apply to interior walls and baskets, allow dwell time, brush agitate as needed, then rinse multiple times with clean water. Never reintroduce oil until rinsing is complete and surfaces are dry.
- Hood filters and grease traps: Soak filters in diluted solution or spray and agitate. Rinse thoroughly before reinstalling.
- Rotisseries and broiler grates: Apply to cool equipment off the heat source. Rinse before returning to service.
Surfaces and situations requiring caution or avoidance:
- Aluminum surfaces - test before use: pH 13-14 reacts with aluminum and can etch or pit the surface. Test in an inconspicuous area before treating aluminum equipment. Limit contact time and rinse immediately. Not recommended for soaking aluminum components.
- Electronic controls and door gaskets: Keep product away from electronic components, control panels, and rubber or silicone gaskets. Alkaline chemistry can deteriorate rubber seals with repeated contact.
- Do not apply to hot or warm equipment: Application to warm or hot surfaces can cause product to steam or splatter, increasing chemical exposure risk to the operator. Cool equipment fully before application, surface should be safe to touch.
- Do not mix with acidic cleaners: Incompatible with acids and oxidizers. Never combine with acidic descalers or vinegar-based cleaners in the same container, spray line, or wash station.
- Ensure exhaust ventilation is running: 2-Butoxyethanol content requires adequate kitchen exhaust ventilation during application. Do not apply in enclosed spaces without mechanical ventilation active.

Shipping & Fulfillment
55-gallon drums ship via LTL (Less Than Truckload) freight, rates are calculated at checkout based on pallet weight and delivery destination. Up to 4 drums fit on a single pallet; ordering multiple drums reduces your per-drum freight cost. Despite its maximum-strength pH 13-14 classification, this product is not regulated for DOT, IMDG, or IATA transport, simplifying receiving and storage compliance. Local pickup is available at no charge from our Coral Springs, FL facility (4105 NW 124th Avenue) Monday–Friday, 9am–4pm, allow up to 2 business days for drum preparation. Safety - Signal Word: DANGER
This product carries the GHS DANGER signal word and is classified as causing Skin Irritation (H315), Serious Eye Damage (H318), Possible Allergic Skin Reaction (H317), and Respiratory Irritation - Sodium Metasilicate (H335). At pH 13-14, this is a strongly caustic product. Eye contact can cause permanent damage. Full PPE is mandatory before application.
Required PPE (HMIS Level B): Chemical-resistant rubber gloves, safety glasses or face shield (face shield strongly recommended for overhead or interior oven application where splatter risk is elevated), and protective clothing. Ensure kitchen exhaust ventilation is active during all applications due to 2-Butoxyethanol content (NIOSH REL: 5 ppm TWA).
Storage: No special storage conditions required. Store separately from acids and oxidizing agents and incompatible materials. Keep away from children. Prevent spills from reaching waterways or drains.
