MA5X Interior Protectant 55-Gallon Drum | Fleet & Detailing Dashboard Dressing
For auto detailers, fleet maintenance operations, car rental companies, and dealership service centers that need consistent, high-volume interior finishing results. Available in a 55-gallon drum for centralized storage, drum pump dispensing, and pallet delivery.
MA5X Interior Shine Protectant in the 55-Gallon Drum uses poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) chemistry in a water-based, near-neutral (pH 5-7) formula to leave a clean, uniform finish on automotive interiors without the greasy residue and glare associated with traditional silicone sprays. Non-greasy finish, 15-minute dry time, and compatibility across dashboard, vinyl, leather, rubber, and plastic trim surfaces make it a single-product solution for interior finishing at commercial scale. Dilutable up to 3:1 with water to extend yield. At full strength, one drum covers approximately 19,000 sq ft of interior surface at $0.04 per sq ft, with diluted applications multiplying that yield depending on your application ratio.
Key Features & Benefits
- UV-stable PDMS chemistry - non-greasy finish: The poly(dimethylsiloxane) backbone does not break down under ultraviolet exposure, so the finish holds its appearance on dashboards and door tops that take direct sun through the glass, rather than chalking or hazing between service cycles. No oily residue and no windshield glare from over-application.
- Broad interior compatibility: Effective on dashboards, door panels, vinyl seats, sealed leather, rubber seals, plastic trim, and center consoles. One product covering the hard and semi-hard surfaces in a vehicle without needing separate SKUs for different materials.
- Satin finish - controlled glare: Applied and buffed as directed, the finish stays at a satin level that keeps windshield reflection off sun-facing dashboard surfaces in vehicles returned to customers or drivers immediately after detailing.
- 15-minute dry time - minimal downtime per vehicle: Quick-dry formula allows interior surfaces to be ready for customer use within 15 minutes of application, maintaining throughput in high-volume detailing bays and fleet turnaround operations.
- Adjustable finish - full strength to 3:1 dilution: Apply undiluted for a fuller, higher-sheen result on heavily sun-exposed surfaces. Dilute up to 3:1 (product to water) for routine maintenance treatments or lighter-duty applications, one drum serves multiple service tiers without stocking separate products.
- Built for bulk handling: Standard 55-gallon drum integrates with drum pumps, proportioning systems, and pallet storage for continuous operations across multiple bays, locations, or fleet service sites.
Dilution & Application
Apply full strength to heavily sun-exposed, faded, or dry interior surfaces using a microfiber applicator pad or foam applicator. Spread evenly across the surface in a thin coat and buff any excess before dry time to prevent streaking. For routine maintenance on well-maintained interiors, dilute up to 3:1 with clean water and apply via spray bottle and microfiber wipe, charging the cloth rather than spraying panels directly. Allow 15 minutes dry time before vehicle delivery. In automated or in-bay application systems, calibrate proportioners to deliver the desired dilution ratio at the point of application.
Automotive Use Guide - Surface Compatibility & Best Practices
Confirmed compatible surfaces:
- Dashboards and instrument panels: Apply sparingly with a foam or microfiber applicator in a thin, even coat, and buff the upward-facing dash top to hold glare down. Avoid overspray on glass surfaces, product on windshields or side windows creates a haze that is difficult to remove. Mask or work away from glass during application.
- Vinyl seats and door panels: Safe at all recommended dilutions. Leaves an even, uniform finish on vinyl without softening or discoloring the material. Use undiluted on heavily sun-faded vinyl for the fullest treatment.
- Rubber seals, moldings, and weather stripping: Renews the appearance of dulled and chalky rubber and leaves a water-shedding film. Apply with a foam applicator and allow full dry time before exposing to water.
- Plastic trim and center consoles: Safe on hard and soft plastics at all dilutions. Renews a clean, uniform appearance on faded or chalky plastic trim.
- Leather seats and trim (sealed leather): Compatible with sealed factory leather. Apply lightly and buff thoroughly for a clean, non-greasy finish. This is a protectant rather than a leather conditioner, so pair it with a dedicated conditioner where your service package calls for one. For unsealed or aniline leather, test in an inconspicuous area first, as water-based formulas can affect some specialty leather finishes.
Surfaces and situations to avoid:
- Glass and mirrors - mask before applying: Do not allow product to contact windshields, rear glass, mirrors, or instrument cluster covers. PDMS film on glass surfaces creates a haze that degrades driver visibility and is difficult to remove cleanly. If contact occurs, clean immediately with a glass-specific cleaner.
- Infotainment and touchscreen displays: Do not apply to center-stack screens or digital instrument displays. Silicone smears the oleophobic and anti-glare coatings on touchscreens. Use a dedicated screen cleaner on those surfaces.
- Pedal surfaces, floor mats, and steering wheels: Do not apply to brake or clutch pedal pads, rubber floor mats, or steering wheel grips, the PDMS film creates a slip hazard on high-grip surfaces required for safe vehicle operation.
- Fabric and cloth upholstery: This product is formulated for hard and semi-hard interior surfaces. Not recommended for fabric seats, cloth headliners, or carpet, use a dedicated fabric protectant for those surfaces.
- Do not apply to hot surfaces in direct sun: Application to sun-heated dashboards can cause the formula to flash-dry unevenly before buffing, resulting in streaking. Pre-cool the vehicle interior or work in a shaded bay for best results.
